Marion County is stained with another murder. Some people killed hogs Wednesday morning. People with cash can live cheap these days. The cotton fields are becoming black and debts will have to go unpaid. Mr. John Cook was shot and killed and his son wounded about 8 o'clock last Tuesday in the upper part of the county. We will not attempt to give any further facts in the matter until we hear the verdict of the coroner's jury. Mrs. Weaver, wife of Dr. J.A. Weaver, after a long illness, breathed her last Thursday night of last week at about 9 o'clock and her spirit took its flight back to God. She was the former Miss Reina Dassinger of Waggaman, Louisiana. She leaves a husband and two children, one of which is an infant, to mourn her untimely departure from earth. At Philadelphia church last Sunday, Mr. Henry Highnote and Miss Willie Beasley were united in the holy bonds of matrimony. The ceremony was performed by Squire Daniel. 75 YEARS AGO--NOV. 23, 1923 LOCALS All Business houses in Buena Vista will be closed next Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Guy, Mrs. J.R. Harriett Patrick, colored, who was 100 years old July 3rd, was in Buena Vista Thursday. She is the second oldest citizen in the county. The barn of Mr. Ace Smith, of Draneville, was burned Tuesday night, together with fodder, corn and cotton seed, with a loss of between $500 and $700. 50 YEARS AGO--NOV. 11, 1948 Mrs. J.S.
