Loss is $15,000 with practically no insurance. LOCAL PARAGRAPHS--Howell Storey ran upon a pair of rattlesnakes in the piney woods a few days ago, one of which had 13 rattles and a button. Sometime ago the County Commissioners had posts put up with a chain attached to keep out vehicles, and a few nights ago, someone took the posts up and removed them. Mr. Homer Avant is very unfortunate with his little ones. He lost another infant Saturday, and it was buried at the Methodist Cemetery Monday morning. PERSONAL MENTION--Mrs. Andrews, Miss Maggie Show and Ernest Shaw, of Columbus, are here to attend the Tharpe-Mathew wedding. 75 YEARS AGO--NOV. 9, 1923 LOCAL NEWS--Sweet milk from fat jersey cows for sale--Mrs. Ben T. Rainey. Miss Ruth Short, of Atlanta, visited Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Short Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Parker announce the birth of a daughter Oct. 31st. Mrs. Lightner and children of Ellaville, visited Dr. and Mrs. B.T. Rainey, Sunday. Mr. Will Brown Short has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the army and will leave next week for Ft. Monroe, Va., to take up his duties. Little Miss Thelma Goodroe is out again after a recent illness. Mr. Nick Jordan of Hartsfield, passed away at his home Monday morning, after a number of years of declining health. He was born in Marion county about 73 years ago, and lived here until after reaching manhood. His wife was Miss Emma Belk of Marion county, who with a number of children survive him. One son resides in Texas, Mrs. Iola Slocumb and Mrs. Susie Mae Campbell of Pelham, Mrs. Alma Carter of Atlanta and Mrs. N.B. Butt of Cocoa, Florida. Mrs. W.B. Jossey, a sister, and two brothers in Texas also survive him. Funeral services and interment took place in Pelham Tuesday., 50 YEARS AGO-NOV. 10, 1948. Mr. H.C. Hogg writes of vacation trip across the Dakotas and Montana. Mr. D.B. Wells attended the funeral of his sister, Mrs. J.S. McGarrah, at Plains last Thursday afternoon.
