Olive S.W. Anthony and family visited Mrs. Anthony’s parents at Howard recently. Mrs. Simeon Lawhorn went to Columbus Sunday. Misses Julia and Blanche Youngblood were shopping in Buena Vista Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Chalkley and their youngest children spent last Saturday and Sunday at the home of Messrs. George and Jabez McCorkle. Miss Dora Bell Bickley, of Howard is visiting her sister, Mrs. Stella Anthony. J.E. Chalkley and S.W. Anthony made a business trip to Geneva Saturday p.m. S. Lawhorn and wife went to Buena Vista Monday. S.R. Lawhorn and family, of Spring Hill visited Mr. and Mrs. Simeon Lawhorn last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lancaster attended preaching at Mt. Olive Saturday. Chandler, S.E. and A.G. Chalkley, Luther Forrest and Herman Anthony went to Parker’s Mill Saturday. Perry Anthony and family, Ft. Perry, spent Sunday at the home of Walker Anthony. Grover Bryan and Evan Wall, two of Spring Hill’s best looking young men, visited at the home of J.W. Brown Sunday. Miss Hattie Hand went to Columbus Sunday. Joe Brown and wife spent Saturday night and Sunday with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Downs, of Geneva. Olive Miss Dora Bell Bickley returned to her home near Howard Sunday, after spending two weeks with her sister here. Mr. J.W. Brown is quite sick at this writing. Jewell, the little infant of Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Anthony, who has been quite sick, is reported worse this morning (Monday.) Ed Chalkley and little sons, S.E. and A.G., attended meeting at Mt. Pisgah Saturday and visited at the home of S.R. Lawhorn. Arthur Hand spent Sunday at Blueville. Chandler Chalkley and sister, Miss Eva, visited at the home of Mr. Wesley Phillips at Spring Hill Sunday. Cape Colquitt, of Geneva, passed through our community Tuesday. Rev. Hill preached at Mt. Ed Chalkley and family visited Ben Tyler and family last Sunday. The little infant of Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Anthony is slowly improving. Mr. and Mrs. W.M. McFarland, of Mauk, and Mr. and Mrs. M.D. Moore, of Juniper, visited at the home of S. Lawhorn last week. W.H. Chalkley, of Columbus, visited his brother Ed, here Wednesday. Mack Moore was looking after business here Wednesday. Miss Eva Chalkley visited Misses Julia and Blanche Youngblood last Sunday. J.E. Chalkley and children, Eva and Chandler, attended the Union meeting at County Line, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Toby The Marion County Patriot, No. 23 Friday, June 18, 1909 Page Four Mt. Olive Miss Mattie Tyler and little niece, Reba Tyler, visited at the home of J.E. Chalkley Tuesday. Rev. Paul Kembal, of Geneva, filled the pulpit here the first Sunday, Rev. Hill preached here last Sunday. Chandler Chalkley and sister, Miss Eva, spent Saturday night at the home of J.Q. Melton. Mrs. Martha Chalkley spent Saturday night at the home of her grandson, Mr. Jeff Phillips. Elder and Mrs. Lee Hanks and little son, Joseph, spent Friday and Sunday night at the home of J.E. Chalkley. Ed Chalkley and Walter Anthony went to Geneva Monday. Misses Julia and Blanche Youngblood were in Warm Springs the 10th. Prof. John L. Taylor is now at home from Athens to the delight of his many friends. J.E. Chalkley and family attended preaching at Mt. Pisgah Saturday and Sunday. Olive Mr. Floyd Lawhorn is attending Massey’s Business College in Columbus. Mr. and Mrs. James Helms were called to the bedside of their sick father, Mr. E.J. Melvin. Ed Chalkley made a business trip to Geneva Saturday. Miss Eva Brown and Downs Lancaster attended the singing at Spring Hill last Sunday afternoon. The little son of Mr. S.C. Olive Protracted meeting started at Mt. Olive last Sunday. Mrs. S.R. Lawhorn and children, of Spring Hill, spent Saturday night at the home of Simeon Lawhorn. W.R. Upton, of Draneville, visited his daughter, Mrs. Minnie Lawhorn, last week. Miss Julia Youngblood left Saturday to take charge of her school at Rabbit. J.W. Hand is all smiles over the arrival of a fourteen pound girl at his home. Misses Mattie Hand, Eva and Gussie Brown, and Arthur and Lonnie Hand, and Chandler Chalkley attended a picnic at Howard Saturday. S.W. Anthony and family spent Saturday in Geneva. Miss Delma Bickley, of Howard, is spending this week with her sister, Mrs. S.W. Anthony. Miss Addie Baldwin, of Talbotton, opened school here Monday. Henry Johnson was in Juniper Saturday. Miss Elye Kisor, of Draneville, has charge of a music class here. W.B. Upton and Mrs. Stella Pearson and children visited Mrs. W.C. Lawhorn last week. Several of our young people attended the singing at Spring Hill Sunday. Simeon Lawhorn went to Columbus last week and purchased a fine organ. Miss Addie Baldwin and Mrs. Cora Tyler were the guests at the home of Mr. J.E. Chalkley Saturday. Mr. Cliff Tyler and family, of Sand Hill, visited relatives here last week. Mrs. Martha Chalkley is quite sick at this writing. Miss Blanche Youngblood spent last Sunday with home folks here. The protracted meeting closed Sunday with four additions to the church. Mrs. Leila Chalkley and Mr. S.W. Anthony went to Buena Vista Friday. Miss Eva Chalkley spent Saturday night with Miss Josie Mitchell at Spring Hill. Elder Duncan, of Ripley, Miss., preached at Mt. Pisgah Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Miss Delma Bickley returned to her home near Howard Tuesday accompanied by her niece, Miss Lillie Mae Anthony. Messrs. Brown and Hand have moved their sawmill to the J.E. Chalkley place and began sawing last Monday. Ed Chalkley made a business trip to Columbus Thursday. W.C. Lawhorn visited his son Floyd in Columbus a few days last week.
