McCall bought the first sewing machine that was ever brought into the county. He purchased it in New York and paid three hundred dollars for the machine. It was one of the very old style Wheeler & Wilson machines, and it was as related by our informant four or five feet high. In those days a sewing machine was a great rarity and but few families possessed them. Better machines can now be bought for one-tenth of what this one cost.
