His father’s father lives in this county and is the oldest man in the county. His mother’s father lives in Talbot County and is the oldest man in that county. NOTES: abeandmary@bellsouth.net Jim Golden James Green was the son of John Green, the son of James Green (born 1798 in Duplin County, NC.) who was living in Marion County in the 1880s. I don't know the date of his death. John Green married Martha Alyssum(?) abt 1845 in GA. I have not found her family or a verification of her maiden name. It is most likely that it was her father living in Talbot County. There are not Alyssum families in Marion or Talbot County, so I doubt that the spelling is correct. =============== James W. Green, of Marion County, GA, was the son of James I. Greene. James I. would have been about 91 years old in 1887 as he was born about 1797 or 1798 in Duplin, NC. So I believe this is the father that is mentioned in the email. James I. Green was married to Sarah ?. Haven't been able to find about who her parents were. James I is listed as one of the early settlers of Marion County. James W. was married to Lavinder Peebles (m Sept 10, 1852) and Sarah E. Mitchell (m Sept 8, 1859) He died in 1864 in the Civil War. It is believed that he and Sarah E. had a son named James, but I have not ever been able to document it. Is it possible that this James, mentioned in below email, was the son of Sarah and James W. and the father's that he mentions are actually his grandfathers? OR could the James Green mentioned have been the son of John H. and Martha Monk (again, father Monk unknown) Green (John H. was also a son of James I Green) who was James L Greene (born about 1847). I don't have much info on James L. Greene. Any response on this would sure be appreciated.
