It was quite a success, the only drawback being the excessive heat. There was a large crowd in attendance and dancing was the order of the day. A pavilion 60 x 30 feet has been erected there for the purpose of having picnics and a nice affair it is. With Louis Osborn’s band to make music, the young people expressed themselves perfectly satisfied. Yet more pleasant still, if it be possible, were the evening and night before which we spent at the most hospitable residence of Dr. L.F. McLaughlin, to whom, with his most estimable lady and charming daughter, we shall ever be indebted for courtesies extended to us, and we certainly vote it one of the nicest places that it has ever been our good fortune to visit. The crops are fine on Pine Knot. The old settlers say that crops on Pine Knot are better than they have been for years.
