McGehee’s Dwelling Burned A serious loss by fire was sustained by Col. H.L. McGehee at his place in the western part of the county last Sunday. His dwelling, out houses, a lot of corn and other things were consumed. The fire originated from a defective stove due in the rear part of his dwelling. His loss is about $3,500 and no insurance. Col. McGehee lives in Columbus and his dwelling occupied by a tenant. He had just spent about $100 on the home, as he contemplated moving back since the new railroad was built, and the loss is a serious one to him, being an old man and perhaps unable to make good the destruction by fire.
