Dr. W.J. Reese, county school commissioner is presiding. Prof. J.P. Nelson, principal of the Oglethorpe school is acting in the capacity of expert. The following teachers are in attendance: Misses Hattie Foster, Mary Postell, Willie Kemp, S.N. Overby, Ozella Roberts and Alice Webb. Profs. J.M. Collum, W.M. Pound and W.P. Daniel. Prof. Nelson lectures at the Institutes daily dividing his time between the white and colored institutes. He gave many reasons why those who attend the institutes would be greatly benefited by the discussion of the various subjects which come before the body. The questions given in the Syllabus were discussed. The attendance of teachers, especially at the white institute, is small. Those present, however, are enjoying the meetings and thoroughly imbued with the work. They are eager to catch any new ideas advanced to a more successful management of the school room. It is a fact that the colored teachers take more interest in the institute than the white teachers.
