It is human to err; and the mistakes of my official life, no doubt, have been many; but during an official term of a quarter of a century I do not now remember a single decision of mine which has been reversed by either the Superior Court of the Supreme Court of the state. If there are any statutes which, to any of our people, seem to be hard and unjust, I will simply say: I NEVER MADE THEM. I am sworn to observe and enforce the law as I find it, and as the higher courts have interpreted it. I have had no personal ends to subserve or any private or personal opinions to carry out. I have at all times tried to keep inviolate my official oath and unsullied the ermine bestowed on me by your generous suffrage. Again thanking your for your confidence during a long term of service, I respectfully ask your support in the approaching election. Respectfully, James M.
