Sales, one of the most prosperous farmers of Marion County, who has thirty bales of cotton lying in front of his house, says that he owes his prosperity to the Enquirer-Sun. When a small boy he went to Columbus, and there a solicitor for the paper asked him to subscribe. He told him that he could not read. The solicitor told him that he ought to take a paper, as he would then learn how to read. He did so, handing over a dollar. He has paid in his dollar every one of the thirty-odd years since. He learned to read shortly, and has read the Enquirer-Sun with pleasure ever since. He said that he expected to do so as long as he lives.
