The day was emblematic of the occasion, and as each one drew near the vine-clad porch within itself was an inviting assurance that there was even something better behind its pleasant shades. Among the attractions of the entertainment was music, beautifully rendered by Misses Lowe, Nelson and Mrs. Passmore. They assembled one by one until the band of Bachelors was complete, such a merry jingle and song of joy, but they were hushed by the sudden pause of passersby, which reminded them that their pleasures must be of interest to others. It was an attractive and very appropriate game, “A Love Affair in the garden,” for the music and choice flowers – palms, roses and white lilies - were an inspiration to every contestant. For further information as to the experience of the game I will refer you to Miss Walton, the Bachelor, who was so fortunate as to master the affair. The prize was a beautiful candlestick. May it ever cast bright rays for her. At the close of the contest the guests were received in the office, where they registered with their left hands. There was a tie among Misses Edwards, Cooper and Nelson. Drawing for it Miss Edwards won, and shared its sweetness with her friends. At six the doors of the dining hall were thrown open, where tables spread with immaculate linen, shaded here and there with real lace, jewel work, tints from the cut glass and silver, on which the soft green lights fell and gave it the appearance of a “Fairy Land.” The Club colors were used in artistical arrangement. The guests of honor were: Mrs. J.W. Roberts and Mrs. H.D. Passmore. In the parting of the band it was declared by each one to be one of the most delightful meetings the Club has had, and that its memories would ever cling to the Bachelor Girls as does hospitality to Hotel Lowe.
