M.V. Weed and Thomas H. Tyler made a business trip to Buena Vista recently. Mr. Walter Tyner, of Girard, Ala, is visiting friends here. Mr. Lon Weed and family were the guests of Frank Johnson and family Sunday. Misses Dora and Willie M. Johnson and Julia Mae Weed attended Sunday school at Brown Springs Sunday afternoon. Will Hairbuck and Liza Johnson attended Sunday school at Brown Springs Sunday. Joel and Clarence Culpepper visited friends on Pine Knot Saturday and Sunday. Misses Mattie Hairbuck, Liza Johnson and Will Hairbuck made a trip to Box Springs Saturday afternoon. Mr. F.M. Johnson and daughter, Dora, and Mrs. Lillie Johnson were in Buena Vista yesterday. Mrs. M.J. Hale made a business trip to Columbus recently. Dr. and Mrs. Basden, of Box Springs, visited Mr. and Mrs. Stokes recently. The Marion County Patriot, No. 19 Friday, May 21, 1909 Page Four Pine Knot Misses Minnie, Carrie and Emma Tyner, Rosa, Lillie and Susie Smith, Ethel Harden, Leona Jackson and Belle Vincent, of Columbus, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tyner Saturday and Sunday of last week. Mr. Herbert Green and Miss Dora Johnson, Mr. Will Hairbuck and Miss Liza Johnson, Mr. Justin Harris and Miss Norah Tyler, Mr. Homer Perkins and Miss Emma Tyler attended preaching and prayer meeting at Brown Springs Sunday evening. Mr. Walter Tyner, of Girard, Ala., who has been visiting his parents here, returned home last Friday accompanied by his father and Mr. Thomas Tyler (Tyner ?). Dr. Baisden, of Box Springs, was in our midst recently. Mr. Marion, Tyner, of Girard, Ala., visited his parents here last Sunday. Mr. Herbert Greene, who has been traveling in north-west Alabama, returned home last week. Messrs. A.J. Roberson and Mose Lawhorn passed through our section last Saturday, enroute to Buena Vista. Quite a crowd of young people enjoyed themselves at Hollis’s mill fishing recently. Miss Dovie Cannon has returned home from Doerun, after several days’ visit with relatives. The Marion County Patriot, No. 22 Friday, June 11, 1909 Page Three Pine Knot Mrs. Clara Tyner and children, of Phenix City, Ala., are visiting relatives on Pine Knot this week. Mrs. Will Weed died Saturday after a short illness. She is survived by a host of sorrowing friends and relatives. Dr. Baisden, of Box Springs, was here on business last week. Messrs. M.T. Fielder and David Greene and Thomas Tyler attended the religious lecture at the May schoolhouse Friday night. There will be a picnic at the McMurrain Springs on July 3rd, given by the Messrs. Culpepper. Music by a string band from Columbus. Everybody cordially invited to come and bring somebody with you. Miss Eva Chalkley and father, of Juniper, attended the three days’ meeting at County Line. Mrs. Carrie Tyner, of Girard, Ala., has come to live with her parents here. Mr. J. Harris visited Columbus last Saturday and Sunday. Messrs. J.W. and J.A. Tyler made a business trip to Buena Vista Saturday. Mrs. John Tyner and children, of Phoenix City, Ala. are visiting relatives here. Mr. Lon Battle was in our midst last Sunday. Messrs. Homer Perkins, Joel and Grover Culpepper and Charlie Cook visited at Mr. J.W. Tyler’s Sunday afternoon. Miss Emma Tyler visited Miss Carrie Tyner Saturday night and Sunday. Messrs. Dave Greene and Will Hairbuck visited at Mr. Johnson’s Sunday afternoon. Miss Carrie Tyner was the guest of Misses Nora and Emma Tyner last Sunday afternoon. Master Paul Tyner visited Columbus Saturday and Sunday of last week. Mr. Dave Greene and Miss Dora Johnson attended the prayer meeting at Brown Springs Sunday night.
