Mr. Holcombe Smith has returned home from Columbus, where he has been attending school. Miss Willie Smith, who has been living in Texas with her aunt for the past few years, returned to her old home here last week accompanied by her uncle, Mr. Stephen Hair. Mr. and Mrs. Grey Noell and children and Miss Eunice Belk spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thaggard. Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Johnson, of near Glenalta, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Martin. Mrs. F.B. Belk and children visited her mother, Mrs. C.A. Moore Sunday. The Marion County Patriot, No. 21 Friday, June 4, 1909 Page Three Poplar Spring Rev. Hargrove will fill his regular appointment at Union the first Sunday. Little Jimmie Thaggard is on the sick list this week. Miss Willie Smith and Master Lester and Robert Edge were guests at the home of Mr. O.W. Smith Sunday. Some of our people attended the commencement exercises in Buena Vista this eek. Miss Forrest Browning has returned home from Buena Vista. Mr. John Martin and family visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Belk in Buena Vista Saturday night and Sunday. The Marion County Patriot, No. 24 Friday, June 25, 1909 Page Three Poplar Springs Mrs. O.E. Browning is expected home sometime soon from Columbus, where she is having her foot treated. The little child of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Thaggard died June 13 of pneumonia. The parents have the sympathy of the entire community. Little Ruth Belk is suffering with a sore foot.
