Local and Personal

On account of a misunderstanding with the city school board Prof. Driskell,
principal of Hoke Smith Institute, rendered his resignation to the board last week.

After the position of the board was more fully understood by Prof. Driskell the
cause for the resignation disappeared and it was withdrawn.  Prof. Driskell is
now at Perry for the holidays but will be on hand in time for the opening of the
school spring term, and will continue to hold the school up to its present high
plain of usefulness.

Prof. Driskell and his charming wife have made many warm friends since coming to
Buena Vista who will pleased to know they are to return.
