Reunion of the Short Family

Sunday was a most happy time with the Short family.  Dr. B.P. Short, of Newton 
and Messrs. W.S. and L.F. Short, of Shellman, together with Mr. H.S. Short, of 
Brantley, and Hon. W.B. Short and Mr. J.B. Short, of Buena Vista all met at the 
home of their father, Rev. W.J. Short, near Brantley.  It was the first time 
all six brothers had met together at the old home place in 18 years, and was a 
day of happy reunion that will ever be remembered by them.

These gentlemen have all been quite successful in their business and 
professional careers and their homecoming was a delight to their venerable 
father, who, like the mother of the Gracchi when shown a beautiful casket full 
of jewels by a haughty Roman lady, pointed to her distinguished sons and 
modestly said, “these are my jewels,” doubtlessly felt that his six noble sons 
are more to be prized than all the diadems of the earth.
