The Baptist have been attempting to carry on a protracted meeting, but the frequent showers have about stopped the attendance. They are very liberal in their views, and the preacher in charge permits his pulpit to be filled by a Methodist divine. The corn and cotton crops are promising. The rain is moving the little potatoes; making them grow larger. Prof. Weaver has a flourishing school. The children are bright and sparkling, eager to learn and well behaved. A mad dog bit some cows near here a few weeks ago. Since then the cows went mad and were shot. Mr. Ed. McMichael’s fine Jersey bull was one of the victims.
