EDWARD CHARLES BROOKS, SR.  NOVEMBER 20,1922---MAY 4,2006

COLUMBUS,GA.-- Edward [ Ed ]Charles Brooks,Sr,age 83,died Thursday, May 4, 2006 
at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be Sunday, May 7, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. New Providence 
Baptist Church with Rev.David Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Buena 
Vista Cemetery.

Mr Brooks was born November 20, 1922 in Lockport, NY,the son of Allene Herring 
and Dr. Henry Wells  Brooks. He was the widower of Louise Belk Brooks.

Survivors include his sons: Edward Charles Brooks, JR. and Christine, of 
Thomaston, GA; Dr. H. Belk Brooks of Fortson, GA; Daughter: Fran Brooks Cook 
and Ed, of Phenix City,AL; Sister Annie Rose Welch , of 
Columbia,S.C.;Grandchildren: Michael,Emily,Erin, April,Vilas,Ben and Simon 
Brooks. Beth Spivey,Sheree Stewart,Meri Hall,Karen Cutrer; four great 
grandchildren


Additional Comments:
Mr Brooks was a retired  Rural Mail Carrier.  Served in World War 11 as an Air 
Core  Sergeant. Graduated Auburn University. Served as Deacon of New Providence 
Baptist church for many years.
