He was taken seriously sick on Thursday before and only lived about eight hours. He was taken with a spasm, his jaws were locked and he was never conscious after first stricken. It is said he had meningitis. Mr. Bradley was notified at Fitzgerald, but did not arrive until after his son’s death. Mrs. Bradley’s sister was with her, and her two brothers arrived from Atlanta. The afflicted family have the sympathy of all citizens. The Marion County Patriot, No. 13 Friday, April 12, 1907 Page One In Memory of Cecil Bradley The death angel entered the home of Mrs. Bradley on last Thursday evening at nine o’clock and bore away the spirit of Cecil, the favorite of the family. He was a good boy and an idol in the home. He was loved and respected by everyone, and especially by his teachers and schoolmates, as attested by the beautiful flowers and wreath, contributed by the school, and the great crowds of schoolmates that came on Saturday morning to pay the last tribute of respect to all that remained earthly of him. The familiar face that once radiated with joy amid the associations that were dear to him has passed into the great Beyond. The vacant chair, the empty garments, leave a void that will last throughout life’s succeeding days, but, as the poet hath beautifully said, “The stars go down to shine on some fairer shore,” so we believe that Cecil will live again and has only stepped from darkness into light, and rests beside the river of the water of life, the children’s playground in the land of Eternal Spring.
