Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, February 6, 2016, in the Chapel of Watson-Tante Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Chandler officiating. There will be a private burial after the service at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00PM. Minnie Blanche was born in Graceville, FL, to Daniel and Hettie Ricks and moved to Columbus where she met the love of her life, Jake R. Cook. She worked at Bibb Mills for 18 years and after Jake took ill, she had to resign. In order to take care of her family, she had to learn how to drive at the age of 39. She worked at home as a seamstress while going to school earning a degree in Business. She then worked for Muscogee County School District as a payroll accountant and retired from there after 18 years. Minnie Blanche was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother. She was all about her entire family that she loved so much. She loved family gatherings on Sunday at her house. Also loved going to the Ricks Family Reunion in Chipley, FL. Minnie Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Jake R. Cook, son James D. Cook (Danny), 2 sisters, Junice Barfield and Katie Mae Rogers, a brother, Buford Ricks, a son-in-law. Thomas (Tom) Britt, a daughter-in-law, Shirley W. Cook and two grandchildren, Christopher and Melinda Kay. Numerous close nephews, nieces and friends. She is survived by a son, Kenneth R. Cook of Perry, GA; a daughter, Brenda J. Britt of Waverly Hall, GA; a devoted daughter-in-law and caretaker Gale Cook of Box Springs, GA; six grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, is in charge of these arrangements.
