Cook June 27, 1945 — May 2, 2023 Buena Vista, GA Rebecca A. Cook Mrs. Rebecca A. Cook, 77, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Tuesday, May 02, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at New Providence Baptist Church with Rev. David Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00PM. Serving as pallbearers will be Brent Waller, Don Cook, and Brian Ray. Honorary pallbearers are Clifford Waller, Dennis Melton, and Steve Driver. Mrs. Cook was born June 27, 1945, in Randolph County, GA, to Harry Scoville and Ione Causey Ray. She attended Brantley United Methodist Church with her husband before his passing and was currently a member of New Providence Baptist Church. Mrs. Cook was a hard and dedicated worker and was employed with Dr. William F. Catrett as the office manager and administrative assistant for 43 years before her retirement. She was an excellent cook and baker and had made wedding cakes for many people in her community. Mrs. Cook enjoyed flowers and gardening and had flower beds throughout her yard. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She especially loved her dog, Daisy Mae. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Leon Cook and by her brother, Thomas Eric Ray. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Cook (Steve Driver); by two grandsons, Brayden Cook (Hannah), and Dylan Carpenter, all of Buena Vista, GA; by a sister, Betty Jane Story of Americus, GA; by her devoted neighbors, Dennis and Ann Melton of Buena Vista, GA; and by her beloved dog, Daisy Mae. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to thank Tanya Doll, RN of Gentiva Hospice for her compassion and care throughout the last few days.
