A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Chapman officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 6:00-8:00PM. Mrs. Covington was born in Rocky Mount, NC, on September 30, 1940, to Leroy and Elizabeth Hughes Twisdale. Glenda attended Business College in Killeen, TX and obtained some of her work skills. She held many jobs throughout her work career. Mrs. Covington worked at J. C. Penney as a telephone switchboard operator, worked in the supply department at Norfolk, VA, Naval Station, and as a bank teller on an as needed basis in Killeen, TX, just to name a few. After meeting her husband, Joseph, she moved to Puerto Rico where she spent most of her time in the ceramic shop where she fabricated many different artifacts which she used later to decorate her home. Mrs. Covington worked part-time in the Navy Exchange in the music section where she organized and ordered replacement records as they were bought. She and her husband moved to his hometown of Buena Vista in 1985. Mrs. Covington was a very kind person and loved all animals. She was feeding about 25 or 30 feral cats along with three or four raccoons and opossums. Her favorite charities were The Red Cross and American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Covington; by her children, Donna Priest, Kimberly Priest-Greene (Kenneth) and Bryan Priest (Dara); her grandchildren, Holly Harper Ellis, Michelle Harper, Jason Greene, Jared Greene, Cody Greene, Caitlyn Priest, and Tanner Priest; five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
