August 8, 1930 ~ November 22, 2015


TAZEWELL, GA --- Betty Jean Icard Craig, 85, of Tazewell, Georgia, passed away on 
November 22, 2015, at her residence. 

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at 2:00 PM in 
Tazewell Cemetery with Rev. David Chapman and Rev. Mike Truitt officiating.  Serving

as pallbearers will be Joey Turner, Terry Whaley, Craig Davis, Wayne Ray, Ben 
Murray, Clifford Murray, Taylor Barrett, Christopher Barrett, Leah Deal Rowland and

Trina Murray. The family will greet friends at Watson-Tante Funeral Home on Tuesday,

November 24, 2015, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.    

Mrs. Craig was born August 8, 1930, to Lester and Ora Eckerd Icard. She was a 
faithful member of Tazewell Baptist Church.  She enjoyed her grandchildren, cooking,

gospel music and reading.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by

her husband of 68 years, James Craig, by three brothers, Uylus Icard, LJ Icard, and

Glenn Icard and by three sisters, Pauline Harbuck, Martha Johnson, and Phyllis 
Smith.

Mrs. Craig is survived by six children, Uvalyne and Ray Smith of Macon, GA, Pam and

Larry Sims of Tazewell, Rosalind Whaley of Ellaville, Charlene and Lynn Turner of 
Ideal, Carol Streeter of Tazewell and Wayne and Cheryl Ray of Tazewell; by two 
brothers, Bobby and Jeanette Icard of Tazewell, GA, and Jimmy and Nell Icard of 
Bonaire, GA; by a sister, Mary Harbuck of Americus, GA; nine grandchildren and 
sixteen great-grandchildren

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tazewell Cemetery Fund or Tazewell Baptist

Church Building Fund in care of Pamela Sims, 3655 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista,

GA, 31803.

Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, is in charge of these 
arrangements.
