Box 382 Buena Vista, GA 31803 Phone (229)649-2478 Fax (229)649-2446 Cusseta, GA - Mattie Lou Vinyard Crockett, 81, of Cusseta died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at her residence. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Tante Funeral Home with Reverend Gene Cook officiating. Interment followed at Riverdale Cemetery in Columbus. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Pack, Brandon McKinley, Gary Pack, Wesley Mullins, Stephen Ingram, Cody Mullins, Daniel Pack, and Justin Watson. The family received friends at Tante Funeral Home on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Crockett was born May 23, 1927, in Chattooga County, Georgia, to Charles Linton and Alice Evaline Wooten Rowlls. She was the first wife of the late William D. Vinyard and the only beloved wife of Joe E. Crockett. She was a homemaker and had lived in Cusseta for the past 18 years. She was Baptist by faith and her grandchildren affectionately called her “Nanny.” In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, by her brother Earl Rowlls, and by three sisters, Francis W. Rowlls, Evelyn Sanders, and Olivia Brooks. Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Griffin of Cusseta, Beatrice Ingram, of Rome, GA, and Helen Baker and husband Andrew, of Cusseta. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren: Eraina Pack, Bill Pack, Gary Pack, Angie Tuttle, Daniel Ingram, Steven Ingram, Annette Ingram, Tami Watson, Tonia Mullins, Martha McKinley, Michelle Cade, and Andrea “Andy” Baker, 30 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
