Mrs. Vera Lucille Currington, 90, of Butler, GA, passed away on Wednesday, 
January 22, 2020, at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston, GA. Funeral 
services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Moore’s 
Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service at Pine Level Cemetery. 
The family will greet friends on Friday, January 24, 2020, from 6:00-8:00PM at 
Way-Watson Funeral Home in Buena Vista, GA.

Mrs. Currington was born December 14, 1929, in Marion County, GA, to Alva and 
Lizzie Applewhite Phillips. A homemaker, she was a member of Mt. Pisgah 
Baptist Church. Mrs. Currington enjoyed going to Sunday school and cooking 
before moving to the nursing home in Taylor County. After moving to Taylor 
County Health Care, she enjoyed playing BINGO and listening to gospel music, 
especially anything sung by Elvis Presley. In addition to her parents, she was 
preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Currington, by two sons, Harold 
Currington and Jack Currington, and by several siblings.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert Wayne and Catherine 
Currington of Mauk, GA, and Charlie and Donna Currington of Butler, GA; by six 
grandchildren, Gary Currington, Jack and Jacqueline Currington, Tina 
Harrington, Jackie Barrentine, April Currington, and James Herbert Currington; 
by five great-grandchildren, Cassie Currington, Little Jackie Currington, 
Grace Currington, Cayson Currington, and Little Wayne Layfield.

Way-Watson Funeral Home of Buena Vista, GA, is in charge of these 
arrangements.
