Chambless had passed away. A useful life of 86 years has ended and we rejoice to know so much that it was spent in the Master’s service. “Whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth” and surely “Uncle Lit” was one of the Lord’s beloved, for only one of a large family of children was he permitted to rear, and 24 years ago his companion was taken after long years of suffering. How well do we remember what untiring devotion he (paper torn) to the slightest wants of that invalid wife and after God had released her from her suffering and he had placed her beside his other dead in the cemetery in Buena Vista, he went to DeFuniak Springs, Fla. where he as since resided with his only child. For a number of years he was a member of the Baptist church in Buena Vista and was a consecrated Christian. We will ever cherish the memory of that dear old uncle whose life was so worthy of imitation.
