She had resided there for the past five years. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 from Concord United Methodist Church. The Rev. Stan Littleton will officiate with burial to follow in the Concord Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 6-8 p.m. today, Jan. 3, 2003 at Aldridge Funeral Services, and at other times at the family residence at the home of Frank Darden, 104 Whipperwill Court, Americus. Mrs. Darden was a native of Marion County, Buena Vista, and was born on Nov. 16, 1911, the daughter of the late Thomas Edmond and Eliza Jane Holley Smith. She was a longtime resident of Sumter County, was a homemaker and a faithful member of Concord United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold W. Darden, Jr. and Vivian of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Thomas Franklin Darden and Sarah of Americus; two sisters, Pauline "Jean" Hart of Plains and Louise Hutto of Ft. Valley; three grandchildren, Kelli McNeilly of Americus, Scott Darden of Plano, Texas, and Dawn Darden of Richmond, Va. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Harold W. Darden. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
