May 3, 1934 Buena Vista, Georgia Thursday W E Drane Dies Suddenly William E Drane, who for fourteen years was principal of Columbus Sixteenth Street school died Suddenly Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock at his home, nine miles from Columbus on the Hamilton road. MR. Drane had been in the flower garden working among the flowers and there was no one in the home but the cook. Allen Johnson, hearing something fall on the porch, ran to the porch and found him dead. He was born September 27, 1882, being the son of the late William E and Elizabeth Butt Drane, pioneer Georgia citizens. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, class of 1902, and had always been deeply interested in the education of the younger generation He was married to Miss Luella Davis of Meriwether county, in 1903. He was a nephew of Mrs. O C Bullock and Mrs. E B Hornady of Columbus. Surviving him besides his wife, Mrs. Luella Drane ar two sons Joseph Drane of Tennille Ga and Edgar Drane of Columbus; two daughters, Miss Ruth Drane and Mrs. J K Beeman of Columbus, four sisters, Mrs. Cecil Burt, of Americus, Mrs. E R Jordan of Ellaville, Mrs. Love McMichael and Mrs. W F Lowe of Buena Vista, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the late residence at 9:30 Friday with interment in Buena Vista. March 30,1933 Buena Vista, Georgia Thursday Miss Eloise Drane to Wed Julian Beeman in Spring Centering the interests of a wide circle of friends both in Georgia and Alabama is the announcement of the engagement of Miss Eloise Drane, Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W E Drane and Julian Beeman. Miss Drane, on her maternal side is the granddaughter of the late Emma Betts Davis and Joseph R. Davis of Woodbury, GA. On the paternal side she is the granddaughter of the late De. William Arthur Drane and Elizabeth Drane. On both side of her family she is a memeber of a family prominent in educational circles of the state. She is a beautiful and charming young girl and enjoys a wide popularity with a large circle of friends. Mr. Beeman is the son of Parks Beeman and Grace Bedrosian Beeman. He attended the Alabama Polytechnic Institute and is now connected with the Campbell Contracting Company. The wedding or Miss Drane and Mr. Beeman will be solemnized in May - Columbus Ledger.
