M.T. Edge Passes Away Hon. Marlin T. Edge died at his home in this county Saturday morning after an illness of about one year’s duration. Mr. Edge was born in Talbot county in 1844 and had lived in this county practically all his life. His mother died when he was quite small and he was raised by his aunt, Mrs. Elizabeth Sale near Brantley. When the war between the states broke out he enlisted as a Confederate solider and did valiant service for the South’s cause. He was married in 1866 to Miss Mollie Hillman, and six blessed the union. Mrs. Edge died about three years ago. Mr. Edge was a consecrated Christian gentleman, belonged to the Methodist church and took a firm stand for the church work and its influence. He represented this county in the legislature in 1897 and 98 and was president of the county Board of Education for several years, resigning the office last April on account of his health. He is survived by four sons, J.L., E.T., Clias M. and Garnett, and two daughters, Misses Nannie and Bessie. In the death of Mr. Edge Marion county loses one of its beloved and influential citizens and his children a devoted and considerate father. The Patriot extends sympathy to the bereaved family. The funeral services were held at Union church Sunday morning and were conducted by Rev. W.P.
