Gaffe', of Buena Vista, GA, died unexpectedly March 31, 2008, while playing softball at South Commons Softball field in Columbus, GA. Services were held Thursday, April 3, 2008, at 3 p.m. in Chapel of Tante Funeral Home. The family received friends at Tante Funeral Home on Wednesday evening in the Chapel. Mr. Gaffe' was born September 13, 1928, in Key West, FL. he was the son of Carl D. Gaffe' Sr. and Elyse Hudgens Gaffe' Carl graduated from Stetson University in Deland, FL, in 1952 after serving as 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. He held the title of Mr. Stetson and Mr. Florida in the 1950's. He was a general contractor, building custom homes in South Florida and Georgia for 45 years. Currently of the Muckalee Guard and the Alexander H Stephens Camp 78 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans in Americus, GA. He was also a charter member of New Community Church in Buena Vista. He is survived by his wife Peggy; and by three daughters- Julie Quigley, Lorri Edwards and husband Troy, of Columbus, GA and Sharon Evinrude of Jenson Beach, Fl.; a sister, Francis Taylor of Buena Vista; and a brother, J. Ron Gaffe'(Kari) of Rochester, MI. He was a loving grandfather and his grandchildren were the light of his life. They are Rachel, Rebekah, Lindsey, Jarred, John Carl, Carley and Bailey of Columbus, and Christopher, Eric, and Kelly of Jenson Beach, FL. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial contributions can be made to the New Community Church Building Fund in Buena Vista. Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista was in charge of arrangements with Troy Edwards, Eric Wojcieszak, Dennis Rainville, Jarrod Collins, Sean Quigley, Greg Hale, John Gaffee', and Dan Collins serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Hammock, Mike Johnson, Jim Johnson, Sam Rigdon, and John Rigdon.
