Obituary for Jeffery B Gibson
Jeffrey Boyette Gibson, 64, of Americus died Thursday, August 30, 2018. Born 
May 19, 1954 to Herman “Fuzz” Gibson and the late Dixie Hodge Gibson, he 
proudly served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and the U.S. Marine Corp. He 
worked as a firefighter with the Georgia Forestry Commission and many times 
dressed as Smokey Bear and Santa Clause. An avid fisherman and hunter, he 
especially loved bird hunting and running deer with dogs; so much that his 
nickname was “Bird Dog.” He never met a stranger, always had a smile on his 
face, and loved to laugh and tell jokes. Most notably, he was a loving 
husband, father, and grandfather.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 
Andersonville National Cemetery with Rev. Raymond Smith officiating. The 
family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 3, 
2018 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus.

Survivors include his wife, Sherrie Gibson of Americus; father, Fuzz Gibson of 
Buena Vista; three daughters: Mandy Gibson Hart of Buena Vista, Nichole Wisham 
of Ellaville, and Hannah Thomas of Americus; son, Brandon Gibson of Buena 
Vista; two sisters: Dale Weber of Tazewell, and Dana Crowden of Senoia; and 
two brothers: Mike Gibson of Utah, and Shorty Gibson of Madison. Also 
surviving are six grandchildren: Jordin Gibson, Bentley Gibson, Zachary Baker, 
Trenton Wisham, Levi Wisham, and Kirby Clark.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to: The John B. Amos Cancer 
Center, c/o Piedmont Healthcare, PO Box 105452, Atlanta, GA 30348-5452.

Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
