Funeral services will be held Monday, February 25, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Oakland Church of God in the Oakland Community in Marion County with Reverend A.R. Curlee and Sister Sara Hales officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus. The family will receive friends at Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Harper was born April 9, 1917 in Taylor County, Georgia to Jack and Sara Lizzy Amerson Bloodsworth. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her first husband, Marvin Brown; by her second husband, Joseph L. Harper; and by her daughter, Julia L. Rogers. Moving from Columbus, she had lived in Marion County since 1982 and was the oldest living member of Fickling Mill Church of God in Butler, Georgia. She enjoyed gardening most of her life and also raising chickens and eggs. She was known in later years for worrying about her grandchildren all the time. She is survived by a son, Edward Jackson Brown of Mauk; a daughter, Lillian Faye Maanao of Panama City, Florida; a son-in law, Leon Rogers of Mauk; a sister, Willa Brown of Dawson, Georgia; five grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
