Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Butler, GA with Reverend J. C. Grimsley officiating. The family received friends at Tante Funeral Home on Monday evening. Mrs. Harris was born December 16, 1923, in Marion County to Otis Adams and Mary Garrett Adams. She served during World War II as a Message Clerk at Warner Robins Air Force Base. Upon returning to Buena Vista, she served for several years as Secretary of the Marion County School Board. She later moved to Columbus and served with the Army Training Center at Fort Benning. She retired from civil service in 1989. She was a member of Wynnton United Methodist Church. More recently, she was active at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in the Videlis Wesley Sunday School class and the U.M.W. She loved reading her Bible and praying to God. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Len Harris, by a sister, Hazel Brown, and by a brother, H. Otis Adams, Jr. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
