Mr. John F. Highnote

Mr. John Highnote died at his home near Pelham Tuesday morning after a week’s 
illness with pneumonia.  His remains were brought to Buena Vista and laid to 
rest in the Baptist cemetery Wednesday morning, and a large number of the 
relatives and friends of the deceased were there to perform the last sad 
rites.  Rev. W.E. Arnold conducted the funeral services.

Mr. Highnote was a young man, and his death was a peculiarly sad one.  He 
leaves a wife and seven children, three of whom being sick with pneumonia at 
the same time, but were reported better Wednesday morning.

When news was received here of Mr. Highnote’s serious illness, his brother, Mr. 
Henry Highnote, went down and arrived there at 12 o’clock Monday night, about 
eight hours before his brother’s death.  The sick man was conscious up to a few 
minutes before his death and recognized his brother and those attending him.

Mr. Highnote was a good man, honest and upright in every respect, with a 
disposition as kind and gentle as a woman.  He moved to Pelham about Christmas 
and it was sad that he should be brought back a corpse so soon.  It was also 
sad that his wife could not accompany the remains to Buena Vista, as she had to 
remain to minister to the wants of her sick children.  She has the sympathies 
and prayers of our people that her children may be spared to her.

May He who tempers the wind to the shorn lamb heal their illness and bring them 
back to health again.
