Hogg Dead Mr. J.H. Hogg died Wednesday afternoon about 5 o’clock after an illness of two weeks with inflammation of the bowels. The news of his death came over the telephone from Mr. Hogg’s home in the country, and was received here with sadness where he had many friends. He was of genial disposition, big hearted and generous, and was exceedingly clever and approachable in his nature. He will not only be greatly missed by his immediate family, but from the community in which he lived as he was a neighbor indeed. The needy who went to him were never turned away without the helping hand being extended. He was loved and respected by his neighbors and it was a sad day for them when they laid him away in the cold ground. He was a good husband and father and will be missed most from around the family circle. The Patriot joins a host of friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved family. The remains were laid to rest at Tazewell yesterday afternoon, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. W.E. Arnold assisted by the Masons and Knights of Pythians, he being a member of both organizations.
