H. T. Hollis Hon. H. T. Hollis died at his home several miles in the country last Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock after an illness of several years duration, during which time he suffered a great deal of bodily pain. His illness began several years agos with neurlgia of the face, and during this time his pain was so severe that he could not sleep at night. While in town he could often be seen to stop and put his hand to his face when a severe paroxyism of pain would strike him. After being cured of neuralgia he had several strokes of paralysis from which he never recovered and he gradually gres worse until death came to relieve him of his sufferings. He was confined to his bed a good while before his death, and for three days previous to that time he lay unconscious without moving a muscle or taking any medicine or nourishment, though his repiration and heart was good. Mr. Hollis was one of the most prominent men of this section, having represented this county in the legislator and held other positions of honor and trust. Mr. Hollis was a man of very cheerful dispostion, whole souled and big hearted to a great degree and many did he aid in time of need. Even up to the very last moments of his consciousness he was cheerful and joked with friends. He was everybody's friend and everybody was his friend. Even during the heated political prejudice a few years ago he preserved the even tenor of his way and he lost no friends by his political choice. He had come to the relief of many a poor fellow white and black when in need, and it is said of him that he stood more security debts and placed his name on more bonds than any man in the county. He was perhaps 60 years of age, and is survived by two daughters, and three sons. Mr. Hollis was a gallant Confederate soldier and bore upon his check the marks of a wound received while carrying the colors of his regiment. His remains were laid to rest in the burial grounds at Ramah church in Buena Vista Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, and there were a large number of relatives and friends present to perform the last sad rites. Rev. W. P. Allison of Brantley, performed the burial services. The Patriot joins a host of friends in extending sympathy to the family in their great loss. In the same edition.
