The life he lead makes us believe he is at rest. He was sick six days. On Saturday evening he was apparently well, but was taken sick very suddenly Sunday morning. He was a kind and affectionate husband and father; he taught his children to live an upright life and to love and trust God. His dear wife preceded him to the grave twenty-eight years ago last March. During the great part of the time that he was left alone he made his home with his youngest child, Mr. W.B. Johnson, where he received the kindest of attention. He leaves one sister, Mrs. Martha Parker, two daughters, Mrs. Mary McCart, of Milligen, Fla., and Mrs. Eliza Harris, and two sons, Messrs. Frank and W.B. Johnson, and a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren to mourn their loss. All his children except his daughter in Florida were with him during his sickness. Let us follow in the steps of grandpa, that we bear the name he did; he bore no prejudice to anyone. He was born August 20, 1822 and was 84 years and 8 months old. We are thankful to God that He spared him this long, yet we are loath to give him up. On Sunday, April 21, we sadly followed him to the cemetery at Bethel; Rev. Joe Short conducted the last sad rites by reading scripture and having prayer; then with tear stained eyes we saw him laid beneath the sod by loving hands. May the Lord sustain us in this our sorest trial, and may his richest blessing be to those that served him in his last hours of affliction, is the prayer of his loving granddaughter, Odessa Harris The Marion County Patriot, No. 15 Friday, April 26, 1907 Page Eight Japanese On Saturday morning, April 20th, the soul of Mr. France Johnson quietly and peacefully passed out of this world into the great beyond. He was sick only a week. The death of Mr. Johnson ends the life of a noble man, ever ready to assist the distressed and alleviate the weight of misfortune. He survived by four children. The remains were laid to rest at Bethel cemetery Sunday morning.
