Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Buena Vista, GA with Pastors Raymond Smith and Jonathan Jenkins officiating. Burial followed at the church’s cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 PM at Watson-Tante Funeral Home in Buena Vista, GA. She was born in Columbus, GA, on February 14, 1951. She was the daughter of Raymond V. McDaniel, Sr. and Delia Grier McDaniel. She was married for 40 years to Michael L. King. She graduated from Columbus High School and attended Columbus College and Auburn University. She was a homemaker and had worked prior to her illness as secretary for Bethel Baptist Church and Upatoi Methodist Church and as Assistant Postmaster for Box Springs. Earlier in her career, she had worked at Fort Benning as a secretary and as Librarian at the Elementary School in Climax, GA. She taught piano for many years. She loved living in the country where she grew flowers, gardened and had cows and chickens. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where she was very active in their music program as their pianist and singing in their choir. She was the WMU director and prepared the church’s bulletin. She loved her church and her pastors and members, but most of all she loved her Lord. She loved participating in mission projects.She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Michael L. King, of Box Springs, GA; a daughter Arrianne (Judson) Faircloth of Box Springs, GA, and their three children, Alex, Chatham and Emmaleigh; by two sons, Charles King of Columbus, GA and Steven King; and by a brother, Victor McDaniel (Debbie) of Columbus and his family. She loved her pets, Cricket and Sandy, and others. Her family wishes to thank Dr. H. Joshi, Jenny, Audra and Angela for their 9 years of wonderful care, and also neighbors and close friends, Carolyn Griffin, Lynn Jeffries, Christine Parker and all the ladies at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Thanks also to Columbus Hospice for the support and care over the past month. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in her memory to Mt. Carmel Baptist WMU.
