N. Maddux died at his home near town Wednesday morning of heart failure. Mr. Maddux was one of the old landmarks of the county, lived to the ripe old age of eighty-one years, and was an honored and respected citizen. His remains were buried at the Methodist cemetery in Buena Vista yesterday morning. He leaves and [an] aged widow together with several children to mourn his death, all of whom are grown. These are Mrs. G. W. Bullock and Messrs. T. A. And W. D. Maddux, of Buena Vista, Mrs. I. E. Phelps, of Crawford county and Mrs. W. F. Watts of Eagle Cove, Texas. Additional Comments: Transcribers note: This is my great great grandfather and the father-in-law of Isaac (Ike) Phelps, the Plow Boy (news correspondent to the Marion County Patriot newspaper).
