MCCORKLE, 79 Funeral services were held at providence church in Marion county Saturday for George R. McCorkle, well-known retired Marion county farmer, who died Friday, two days after his 79th birthday. He had been in ill health for a long period. Elder Walker, of Richland, and Elder Hassell McCorkle of Ellaville, officiated at the funeral and burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. McCorkle, the last member of his family to die, was married three times. His first wife was Miss Annie Helms, who died several months after their marriage. His second wife was Miss Sarah E. Greene, who died on November 13, 1895. Miss Ada Hardage was his third wife. He was a member of ount Pisgah Primitive Baptist church. Surviving are his widow, seven daughters, Mrs. T.B. Stringfellow, of Ellaville; Mrs. J.G. McDaniel, of Buena Vista; Mrs. A.T. Goodroe, of Sylvester; Mrs. Edward Hagler of Buena Vista; Mrs. Gerald Roberts, of Buena Vista; Mrs. M.O. Roberts of Jacksonville, Fla.; and Mrs. Jule McAllister, of Buena Vista; four sons, W.A. McCorkle, of Buena VistaJ.R. McCorkle of Sparta, Ga.; Riner McCorkle of Buena Vista; Z.R. McCorkle of Butler; 43 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were: George S. Stringfellow, Gene McCorkle, Jessie McCorkle, Rainey Roberts, Calvin Hagler and George L. Phillips.
