Sylvester "Bubber" H. McCorkle
Mr. Sylvester H. “Bubber” McCorkle, Jr., 89, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on 
Friday, January 6, 2023, at Magnolia Manor of Marion County. Funeral services 
will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at New Providence Baptist 
Church with Rev. David Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the church 
cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the 
service beginning at 10:00AM.

Serving as pallbearers are Robbie McCorkle, Jr., Richard McCorkle, Jr., Trey 
Reeves, Stuart Gibbo, Logan Hood, Ed Brooks, Jr., Dr. Belk Brooks, Kris 
McCorkle. Honorary pallbearers are Lloyd Hines, Steve Young, Curt Welch, Ferrell 
Cook, Pop Miller, Gene Clark, Wallace Higgs, Buddy Powell, Tommy McAllister, 
Roger Sinyard, Thomas Miller, Larry Deal, Rudy Killingsworth, and Frank 
Hendricks.

Mr. McCorkle was born June 16, 1933, to the late S. H. McCorkle and Aurie Benson 
McCorkle. He was a member of New Providence Baptist Church where he served the 
Lord as a deacon for almost 60 years. Mr. McCorkle served in the U.S. Army out 
of high school, before going on to become a Revenue Agent for a couple of years.  
He then began his career with the USDA as an Inspector at Dent Poultry then 
later Cargill, working for over 30 years before retiring.  Upon his retirement 
he also helped his son Robbie at his pine tree nursery. Mr. McCorkle enjoyed 
farming and sharing his crops with everybody. He never met a stranger and was 
always kind and generous in his daily life.  Mr. McCorkle loved his family 
dearly, and never missed an opportunity to attend sporting events. He was 
arguably one of the biggest Marion County fans you could be, especially Marion 
County football.   

He is survived by his wife, Beth Rogers McCorkle of Buena Vista, GA; by three 
sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Marie McCorkle of Buena Vista, GA, Robbie 
and Gina McCorkle of Calhoun, GA, and Randy and Lisa McCorkle of Buena Vista, 
GA; five grandchildren, Jenny Gibbo (Stuart) of Columbus, GA, Richard McCorkle 
(Shelee) of Buena Vista, GA, Robbie McCorkle, Jr. (Brooke) of Cartersville, GA, 
Traci Reeves (Trey) of Upatoi, GA, and Connor Hood (Logan) of Pine Mountain, GA; 
eight great-grandchildren, Millie McCorkle, Livie McCorkle, Beckett McCorkle, 
Cade McCorkle, Caroline McCorkle, London Reeves, Leyton Reeves, and Brooks Hood; 
and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to New 
Providence Baptist Church, PO Box 532, Buena Vista, GA 31803.

arrangements.
