McCorkle December 13, 1942 — April 27, 2023 Buena Vista, GA Robert L. McCorkle Mr. Robert Lee “Bobby” McCorkle, 80, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Piedmont Columbus Regional Northside Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Dennis Johnson and Elder Roger McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Hudson, Vance McCorkle, John McCorkle, Harry Gowan, Paul Davis, and Curt Welch. Mr. McCorkle was born December 13, 1942, in Buena Vista, GA to Riner Paul McCorkle and Mollie Ivey McCorkle. He was the owner and operator of McCorkle Farms for 40 years in both Georgia and Illinois and he only used John Deere equipment. Mr. McCorkle enjoyed sharing his crops with friends and family and was a genuinely nice person. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church and Mt. Paran Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for both. Mr. McCorkle was a member of the Lion’s Club and enjoyed fishing, quail hunting and after his retirement, woodworking and gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Jesse R. McCorkle and Joe T. McCorkle, and C. R. McCorkle, by two sisters, Louise Pisarri, Marianne Hudson and by an infant sister, Janice McCorkle. He is survived by his wife, Doris M. McCorkle, of Buena Vista, GA; by a son, Jason McCorkle of Centralia, IL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn Ferguson (Gary) of Venice, FL, and Jill Jones (Justin) of Zionville, IN; by two sisters, Elizabeth Lehman, and Rena Difilipo; a sister-in-law, Pauline McCorkle all of Buena Vista, GA; and by three grandchildren, Sidney McCorkle, Grant Burgess, and Sarah Howell. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Elizabeth Lehman, 57 Fiddler’s Lane, Buena Vista, GA, 31803.
