A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Buena Vista First Baptist Church with Reverend Chris Hess officiating. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church for lunch and fellowship from 12:00pm – 2:00pm. Mr. Morgan was born in Aberdeen, Maryland, on April 12, 1951, to Robert William and Marjorie Ellen Kennedy Morgan. After graduating from Kendrick High School in Columbus, GA, he joined the Marine Reserves. Baptist by faith, he was a member and Deacon at Buena Vista First Baptist Church. His first love was building and construction and he was employed as a commercial builder for over 40 years. He had been employed with C & C Contractors. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved hiking and bicycling. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert William Morgan. He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Kennedy Morgan of Buena Vista, GA; his wife, Dianne E. Morgan, of Buena Vista, GA; two daughters, Angie and Kevin Miller and their children, Nolan Miller and Katie Miller of Columbus, GA, and Becky and Johnathan Steed and their children, Kaleb Steed, Blake Steed and Morgan Steed of Ramstein, Germany; a son, Rob Morgan of Smyrna, GA; three step- sons, Ryan and Nikki Elliott and their children, Layne Gray, Hayden Gray, and Caitlyn Elliott, Cameron and Tracy Elliott and their children, Brody Elliott, and Eli Elliott, and Patrick Elliott all of Tazewell GA; a brother, Dennis and Carol Morgan of Huntsville, AL; and several cousins also survive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Buena Vista First Baptist Church, Morgan Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 84, Buena Vista, GA. This Legacy Fund will be used in the future to assist deserving families experiencing a financial hardship due to life-limiting illness.
