Catherine Simmons Murant, age 69 of Buena Vista, Georgia died Monday, March 9, 
2009, at Miona Geriatric and Dementia Center in Macon County after a lengthy 
illiness.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel 
of Tante Funeral Home Buena Vista with Rev.David Howle officiating.  Burial 
followed at Enterprise Baptist Cemetery in Stewart County.  The family 
received friends at Tante Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Mrs. Murant was born July 22, 1939 in Marion County the daughter of the late 
William and Lily Rena Simmons.  She had lived in Marion County most of her 
life and had worked for the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier and 
worked for Marion County Board of Education.  She was a member of Edgewood 
Baptist Church in Columbus.

Survivors include her husband Joe Murant of Buena Vista, Georgia; son Michael 
J Murant and Lynne of Bonaire, Georgia; daughters Pamela M. Brown and Henry of 
Americus, Georgia, Angela M. Mackintosh of Littleton, Colorado; brothers 
Raymond Simmons and Helen of Mauk, Georgia, Earl Simmons and Carmen of 
Woodstock, Georgia; sisters Margaret McCain of Buford, Georgia, Joyce Hagler 
and Thomas of Matthews, North Carolina, Sandra Hunter and Johnnie of Preston, 
Georgia; grandchildren Phillip Murant and Donna, Justin Murant, Ryan Brown, 
Great Grandchildren Micah Murant and Samantha Murant.

Other than her parents Mrs. Murant was preceded in death by a brother Arthur 
Simmons and sister Evelyn Snider.

The family request memorial may be made to Alzheimer’s Association 5900 River 
Road, Suite 301 Columbus, Georgia 31904.

Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista was in charge of arrangements with Lamar 
Blackman, Rusty Sears, Kenneth McAllister, Bubba McCorkle, Rick Waters and 
Bill Johnson serving as pallbearers.
