Burned to Death

Peggy Mathis, an old Negro woman was burned to death yesterday on the place of 
Mr. E.M. Tharpe.  She was left in the house alone while the rest of the Negroes 
who occupied the house were in the field, and when they returned they found her 
lying in the fire place burned to death.
