Mr. Jack Martin Dead

Mr. J.E. Martin, better known as “Jack” Martin, died at Mr. J.W. Wilson’s 
boarding house in this place Monday afternoon about six o’clock.

The deceased had been in bad health for several months and for some time has 
been unable to attend to any business.  His death was not unexpected but is 
never the less sad to his many friends.

Mr. Martin has traveled for a hardware house of Charleston, S.C. for several 
years and was well known to the trade all over south Georgia.  He was a clever 
gentleman and readily made friends wherever he was known.

Mr. Martin’s body was taken to Macon Tuesday morning accompanied by Mr. Cooper 
of Macon, Miss Vera Cooper, nephew and niece of the deceased; and by Hon. E.H. 
McMichael.  The burial will be at “Rose Hill” cemetery Macon in the family 
burial lot.

Mr. Martin was unmarried, but leaves a sister and other relatives and thousands 
of friends who will miss the “big hearted” Jack Martin they knew and loved for 
his many sterling qualities.

Mr. Martin had traveled nearly all his life, for several years he spent time 
visiting foreign countries and there are few cities in the world that he had 
not seen.  For several years past he had been a commercial traveler and 
represented different houses all over America.

There are many good things to be said of him and his friends all knew him to be 
a broadminded lovable gentleman.
