Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, in the Chapel of Watson-Tante Funeral Home with Reverend A. R. Curlee officiating. Burial will follow the service at Brown Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8PM. Mr. North was born July 21, 1933, in Harlan County, KY, to Walter North and Katie Morris North Estep. He served in the Army for 6 years and was stationed in Germany. He was the owner and operator of Bob’s Welding Supplies in Columbus, GA for 26 years. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he loved going to see his grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed traveling and loved to fish, hunt and farm. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Joyce Youngblood North, two brothers, Luther North and John Henry North, Jr., and one sister Dorothy Naillieux. He is survived by two sons, Robert E. North, Jr. (Vicki) of Geneva, GA, and Luther A. North of Juniper, GA; by a daughter, Cynthia J. Preston (Ted) of Juniper, GA; by 7 Grandchildren, Paxton Arnette (Tabitha) of Smiths Station, AL, Jamie Arnette (Shannon), Josh North (Ryan), Alan Preston (Katie), Cody North, Pam Dam (Peter) all of Columbus, GA, and Christy Preston of Juniper, GA; and by 7 Great-Grandchildren. A brother, Marshall North (Lil) of Valparaiso, IN, two sisters, Shirley Norfleet of Valparaiso, IN, and Linda Sue Scott (Richard) of Tots, KY, a sister-in-law, Mary North of Valparaiso, IN,and several nieces and nephews also survive Watson-Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia, is in charge of these arrangements.
