Phillips Allen Payne, age 76, of Mauk, died Saturday December 4, 2010 at his 
residence.

Mr. Payne was born February 20, 1934, in Cartersville, GA, to Miller Allen and 
Mary Louise Phillips Payne.  He served in the Marines for 4 years and had been 
employed by L. J. L. Truck Center as a Diesel Mechanic. Coming from 
Stockbridge, GA, he had been living in the area for 37 years. He was Baptist 
by faith.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

He is survived by three sons, Steve Payne of Stockbridge, GA, Dennis Payne of 
Mauk, GA, and John Payne of Mauk, GA; a daughter, Terry & Randy Anthony of 
Mauk, GA; three brothers, Robert Payne of Birmingham, AL, Charles Payne of 
Canton, GA, and David Payne of Marietta, GA; and two sisters, Mary Helen Hicks 
of Kennesaw, GA, and Melissa Ann Phillips of Kingston, GA. Two grandchildren, 
Sabrina Payne and John Payne, II also survive.

Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, GA, was in charge of arrangements.
