Box 382 Buena Vista, GA 31803 Phone (229)649-2478 Fax (229)649-2446 Larry Fred Pope, 67, of the Oakland Community in Marion County, GA, died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at the Chapel of Tante Funeral Home in Buena Vista, GA with Rev. Vernice Waldrop officiating. Burial followed at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon, GA. Serving as pallbearers were Joshua Clements, Jeremy Clements, John Shoemaker, Kyle Cassell, Richard Brown, and David Dupriest. The family received friends at Tante Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6-8 PM. Mr. Pope was born July 27, 1942, in Macon, GA, to Fred Paul Pope and Mary Evelyn Harper Bloodworth. He was a truck driver by trade and had been previously employed by Keen Transport in Pennsylvania. He loved to build, clean, and repair computers and also owned an upholstery shop. He and his wife, Irene, had been living in the Oakland Community since 1982. He was Protestant by faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Fred Pope, Jr. Survivors include his wife Irene Pope, of the Oakland Community, a son Robert & Mary Cassell of Lula, GA; two daughters, Julie P. & Tommy Harden of Baxley, GA, and Paula Pope of Forsyth, GA; a brother, Robert Thomas of the Oakland Community; three sisters, Bobbie Jean & Dean Jester, Betty Lynn & Elmer Lawson all of Macon, and Sandra Pope Small of Brandon, MS; five grandchildren, Joshua Clements, Jeremy Clements, Tuesday Clements, Michael Cassell, Kyle & Chelsea Cassell and two great-grandchildren, Logan Clements and Kolton Cassell. His loving aunt, Nell Monthie of Macon, GA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Tante Funeral Home of Buena Vista, Georgia in charge of arrangements.
