Family Funeral Program
PORTER, WILEY III
Mr. Porter was born January 19, 1962 in Butler, GA, son of Wiley and Eris 
Almer Porter, Jr..  He graduated from Taylor County High School in 1980 
andlisted in the US Navy, serving 4 years.  He wed Miss Sonjia Livingston in 
1984 and they had one daughter.  He was a member of Mt Olive Baptist Church in 
Tazewell and served on the Junior Usher Board.  He was a member of the Welcome 
Home Baptist Church Junior Choir for several years.  He was employed at 
Thomaston Mills in Upson county, GA.  He died suddenly on Saturday, December 
26, 1987. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 1987 
at Mt Olive Baptist Church in Tazewell, Marion County, GA.  Reverend J R 
Oglesby officiated.  Burial in Mt Olive Baptist Church cemetery.  A military 
detail served as pallbearers.  He is survived by his parents of Butler, GA ,  
his wife and daughter Avery Porter of Pascagoula, MS., 3 sisters and brother 
in law: Ms Cheryl Porter of Butler, GA, Mrs Joyce M (Bobby L) Harper of 
Carrollton, GA, Ms Ramona Porter of Atlanta, GA .  6 uncles, Mr. George Porter 
of Tazewell, GA, Mr. Ralph Porter of Macon, GA, Mr. Charlie Thoronton of Buena 
Vista, GA, Mr. Joe and Mr. James Thoronton of Columbus, GA , Mr. Bob Thoronton 
of Jacksonville, FL; 6 aunts: Mrs. Avella Brown of Buena Vista, GA, Mrs. Lula 
Mae Cabell and Mrs. Annie Ester Blake of Delray, FL, Mrs. Ellamae Pope of 
Butler, GA, Mrs. Mary Green of Jacksonville, FL, Mrs. Stella Mae Willis of 
Columbus, GA; 3 great uncles: Mr. B J Hollis of Cordele, GA, Mr. Bosie Hollis 
of Columbus, OH and Mr. Jaylynn Hollis of Columbus, OH.  Great aunt Mrs. 
Eldora Slaughter of Buena Vista, GA, a niece, Candice Cornelious, a nephew, 
Brandon Harper. Charlie Hicks & Sons Funeral Home, Reynolds, GA
