Obituary
Mr. David Todd Powell, 59, of Buena Vista, GA, passed away on Thursday, February 
04, 2021, at Piedmont Regional Northside Hospital. A sunset funeral service will 
be held at 5:30PM on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at Union United Methodist Church 
Cemetery with Rev. Bill Harris officiating. Family and friends may visit with 
Mr. Powell at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Buena Vista on Sunday, February 7, 
2021, from 10:00am-2:30pm. Serving as active pallbearers will be Roland Weaver, 
Russell Weaver, David Wells, Brad Powell, Julian Wells, Gary Powell, Jeremy 
Haulk, and Carl Wells. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Powell and John Dent. Due 
to Covid-19, face coverings are strongly encouraged and please practice social 
distancing.

Mr. Powell was born August 11, 1961, to Billy Eugene and Laverne Anthony Powell. 
He was a tough worker and a driven man who built the holding he was given into 
one that ultimately specialized in farming. Mr. Powell was a farmer who worked 
hard, a man who provided, a husband who loved his wife, a father who loved his 
children, and a great friend. A member of Union United Methodist Church, he was 
the owner and operator of Todd Powell Farms and Pinecrest Forest Seedling 
Nursery. Mr. Powell enjoyed hunting, tractors, country music, and dancing. He 
loved spending time with his family more than anything. He liked fast cars and 
in his younger years was known for his Trans-Ams.  Mr. Powell enjoyed sunsets. 
He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his wife, Deana Dews Powell; by his mother Laverne A. Powell 
both of Buena Vista, GA; by three daughters, Kayla Powell, Kasey Powell, and 
Kristy and Gavin Hicks; by a step-son, Trent and Hannah Miller and a step-
daughter Taner Miller; by his brother and sister-in-law, Randy E. and Beverly 
Powell; by grandchildren, Kason Hawkins, C. J. Hicks and Haven Hicks; and by his 
niece and nephews, Brad Powell, Courtney Powell, and Bo Powell.

Way-Watson Funeral Home, 1052 Dr. Deryl Hart Road, Buena Vista, Georgia has been 
entrusted with these arrangements.
